My name is Robyn. Like many, my pain started in high school with the backpack that weighed almost as much as I did. I remember walking around the hallways of my school like an ant bent over carrying a massive boulder on its back all by itself. Every day after school my back, neck and shoulders would ache and hurt. This was only the beginning of my pain story. Years later, I was driving home one night and got hit by a drunk driver. It was a nasty crash and the impact severely worsened my already weak spine. I was used to dealing with bothersome daily back, neck and shoulder pain but the trauma from the accident sent my pain levels over the edge. I tried so many things to numb the pain. I tried every over the counter pain medication. I tried muscle relaxers. I tried anti-inflammatories. I tried a plethora of different vitamin regimens. I tried cannabis products. I tried pain creams that were prescribed to me by my doctors. I tried cold sprays from the chiropractor. I tried special pillows that held my neck just right while I slept. You name it, I tried it. Unfortunately for me, none of these options provided much relief. I wasn’t willing to take up an addiction with prescription pain killers, so I suffered every day just trying to push my never ending pain to the back of my mind.
One night after a long, long shift at work I was sitting on the couch with my partner complaining about the aching, burning fire sensation that was attacking my neck, shoulder, and the places where those two meet. My partner suddenly remembered something--he had an old jar of pain balm that his mysterious aunt and uncle who live in the deep woods had given him years ago when he'd been in a car crash and had a back injury. My partner warned me, “Go easy with that balm, it's really strong”.
"That's exactly what I need!" I exclaimed. "Please let me try it, I will do anything to get rid of this blasted pain."
I tried the balm, skeptically of course. Nothing else had worked for me at this point. But the moment the balm touched my inflamed area in the crook of my neck and shoulder, I felt an instant sensation. I wasn't sure what was happening, but I felt it, and I knew it was doing something. Was it…working?!
Naturally, being into DIY projects and formulating personal care goods, I figured if I asked my partner's aunt and uncle for their recipe, surely they'd love to pass it on to me so I can get relief from my insidious pain. I had my partner put me in touch with his aunt and uncle. They sent me a text with everything I needed to replicate their miracle pain balm.
I eagerly began getting all the necessary ingredients and supplies together. I followed the recipe perfectly. And to my dismay, the product that I got in the end was...nothing at all like the balm I had tried. It wasn't even the same color. I was saddened realizing, they had sent me a generic recipe. There was no way they were letting me, the girlfriend of their nephew, in on the family secret recipe.
I did not let this stop me. I took it as a challenge! If they wouldn't share the recipe with me, I would simply have to figure one out myself. So began the experimentation.
Months later, and after several attempts to get just the right product, as I tested it against the original tin of balm my partner had given me, FINALLY I found a recipe that WORKED! It was amazing. I now held the key to my very own pain relief, and I knew I could help my family and friends who also dealt with chronic pain of their own.
So, there you have it. The story of how Pain Be Gone Ghost Balm came to be. I am proud to have a recipe I stand behind and a product that WORKS and does exactly what it is supposed to do. Chronic pain is often dismissed and seen as something you have to just "live with". Though this balm cannot cure you indefinitely, what it does do is provide relief. Those moments where you can't concentrate on what you want to, be it working, playing, sleeping or relaxing, my Ghost Balm can be a silent savior and come to your aid. When you want pain to not be the thing right at the front of your mind that you have to push aside to focus on anything else at all. This balm will knock down that wall and let you finally have some moments at ease. Sometimes, even temporary relief is all we need to see the light.
